The course of Shyli's development

With just three handlooms and five to eight sewing machines, the Shyli Unit was established in 1999 in the small village of Heggodu-Bhimanakone. Smt. Vijayalakshmi Sundar and her husband Shri. Sundar Bhimanakone ignited a spark for today’s Shyli and were in-charge of the functioning. Producing clothing with creative designs on handlooms is Shyli’s area of expertise. Furthermore, they helped other rural women who came to them in search of work by teaching them how to embroider and sewing for free, enabling them to have independent lives. This couple refused to give up in the face of hundreds of challenges, and they were able to distribute the Shyli unit’s ready-made clothing throughout the state. Furthermore, even from other states, there has been a recent surge in demand for Shyli’s products.

In order to raise awareness of handlooms and the advantages of wearing clothing made from handloom materials, Shyli gave preference on this, numerous programs and exhibits highlighted their significance and the health benefits of using this cloth. But today, this lovely name, which came from this little community, has spread throughout the entire nation. Shyli’s family has contributed to improving the economic status of the village ladies and allowing them to make a livelihood through their own labor, and we are glad to report that our family has employs over 250+ people.

“Let us grow and let others grow” is Shyli’s motto. Products from Shyli can be found throughout the state, notably in Bangalore, Mysore, Shivamogga, Udupi, Gulbarga, and Tumkur. The Shyli’s unit produces a wide range of garments for people of all ages, from newborn babies to adults. Similarly, the goal of Shyli is to make life beautiful, thus the handloom business should be fostered, public awareness should be raised, weavers need to be trained, and the rural women to become self-dependent. And simultaneously to develop and conserve India’s rich cultural heritage and transmit it to the following generation – this should be a duty shared by all of us…
